Karrar Hashim is an enthusiastic and dedicated undergraduate student pursuing a BSc in Applied Medical Sciences at University College London (UCL). Born and raised in the vibrant landscapes of Iraq, Karrar embarked on a journey of academic excellence that led him to the prestigious halls of UCL, where he embraced the world of knowledge and innovation.
 

His academic journey began with a BSc in Biology from the University of Baghdad, where he developed a solid foundation in biomedical sciences. His passion for medical research has driven him to immerse himself in various internships and research projects. These experiences have honed his analytical and experimental skills, allowing him to contribute effectively to innovative projects. He appreciates working on interdisciplinary projects as a student researcher, with his main area of interest is understanding the mechanisms behind the pathophysiological management of critical infections. He is keenly interested in cardiovascular and cancer-related research, artificial intelligence in medicine, and translational research to improve patient outcomes.

 

He has student memberships with prestigious organizations such as the Royal Society of Biology and the British Pharmacological Society, reflecting his unwavering commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in the field. He aims to be at the forefront of groundbreaking medical scientific discoveries, striving to impact global health positively.

 

Beyond his academic and research pursuits, he is actively involved in various UCL societies, including the MedTech Society, Integrated Medical Sciences Society, and Entrepreneurs Society. These engagements have enriched his university experience and facilitated his leadership and teamwork skills development.

 

In addition to his professional interests, he has a diverse range of hobbies, each adding a unique dimension to his personality. These include reading, photography, painting, web development, and hiking. He is also passionate about business and management, creative writing, and community volunteering, all of which contribute to his holistic development.
